Day of Mourning, April 28, 2026

Join us at Skeleton Park on April 28, 2026, to acknowledge the National Day of Mourning.  Organized by the Kingston & District Labour Council, there will be a minute of silence for those workers who have been killed or injured on the job.

From CUPE:

We mourn the loss of four members of our CUPE family in 2025:

  • Miguel Escalante Ledesma, CUPE 1000, Ontario
  • Nabil El-Ahmed, CUPE 5167, Ontario
  • Kulbir Kalia, CUPE 3338, British Columbia
  • Jose Castillo, CUPE 416, Ontario

We also mourn the very recent loss of the following members:

  • Richard Anstett, CUPE 79, Ontario
  • Neil Harris, CUPE 54, Ontario

We hope you will join CUPE members and workers around the world in renewing our shared commitment to preventing workplace injuries and deaths and ensuring the health and safety of all workers.

CUPE 3251 – Services Not Cuts

Cornwall’s Essential Services – CUPE Ontario

Tell Cornwall City Council to Negotiate a Fair Deal!

Our city’s inside workers make Cornwall a wonderful place to live. They deliver social services for families in crisis, keep our water safe, run recreation programs, support public workers, and ensure city services stay accessible and reliable.

Instead of supporting them and investing in services, the City of Cornwall laid off 14 workers.

When staffing is cut, residents suffer – with delays, reduced access, longer wait times, and weakened services.

A fair deal for workers is a fair deal for Cornwall.

Ontario Public Library Week, Oct. 19-25

Ontario Public Libraries Week (October 19-25) highlights the important role public libraries play in our communities. And as Ontarians, we love our libraries.

What can you do to support your library workers?

  • Visit your library and thank the staff.
  • Tell your councillor that you appreciate the great work library workers do in your community – and remind them that properly funded library services are a priority for you in the municipal budget.
  • Tell someone about a library service you learned about recently – there are many stellar programs and services.
  • Get a library card. The tool on this page will help you get or renew a card.
